While not out at the track, this sure seems like news you folks will want to know.

Aerosmith and Cheap Trick will be in Austin for a show during the US Grand Prix weekend. News is here:

Iconic American rock band Aerosmith will headline a concert at the Frank Erwin Center Friday, Nov. 16 with quintessential 1980s rockers Cheap Trick. The concert will be held in conjunction with fan festivals planned around the FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX™ Nov. 16-18.

Aerosmith formed in 1970 and have since sold more than 150 million albums, won four Grammy awards and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This will be Aerosmith’s fifth concert at the Frank Erwin Center and first in almost 15 years, when the legendary band toured in support of their hit album, “Nine Lives.”

Here’s the “About” page for the center:

From North Austin
Take Mopac south, exit Enfield/15th Street, turn left onto 15th street (headed east), turn left at Red River (headed north) and the Frank Erwin Center will be on your right.

Take IH35 south, exit Martin Luther King Blvd., turn right onto Martin Luther King Blvd. (headed west), turn left at Red River (headed south) and the Frank Erwin Center will be on your left.

From South Austin
Take Mopac north, exit Enfield/15th Street, turn right onto 15th street (headed east), turn left at Red River (headed north) and the Frank Erwin Center will be on your right.

Take IH35 north, exit 15th street, turn left onto 15th street (headed west), turn right (headed north) at Red River and the Frank Erwin Center will be on your right.

What that means is you can walk there from Downtown Austin. And I guess it is on the UT campus? (I’ve only been to UT once so I don’t know. But the campus and Downtown Austin are on top of each other, so it isn’t a huge distinction.
