Allison to Ferrari

According to AUTOSPORT, Ferrari are set to announce the appointment of former Lotus F1 technical director James Allison to the Scuderia. News of Allison’s departure surfaced last May when AUTOSPORT suggested then that he would be joining Ferrari.

It seems sources have confirmed the imminent announcement and Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso welcomed the news. AUTOSPORT had the call:

“I worked very closely with him and was world champion with him two times,” said Alonso.

“Then I came back to Renault in 2008/9; in 2009 he was already technical director and we were not so successful with that car, but we saw the Lotus car in the last two years and it is no secret that he’s one of the top men here and we will see what future he has.”

Good move for Ferrari? Bolstering their team with Pat Fry, Rob Smedley and James Allison to a few key personnel from the UK in their technical departments has given the team a boost and buoyed the undertow notion that Ferrari does better with Brits on staff.

Will Kimi follow James?
