Alonso? Renault Doesn’t Need Alonso!

An interesting comment that may have been issued to cool the rumors of Alonso going back to Renault. Flavio may be willing to sign Fred but Fred may not be able to sign with Flav. I sense contractual issues.

Goshn does not know a thing about F1. He’s a beancounter, and a good one at that. He thinks engineers can develop a championship winning car without a top driver to assist in development. Flavio knows better of course.

Sorry, my bad. Goshn actually said in that article that a winning team needs a top driver. I’ve read abbreviated versions of that interview before which portrayed a different picture, saying a winning car alone will do.

Which goes on to show how little you can believe of what is publizised. Journalists spin their stories wilder than the wheel of fortune at times..

William shave always been a bit more as you suggest Zash. DRivers come and go but the car is what they are focused on. No current Williams performance jokes needed. :)

But of course that’s what they’re going to say. What constructor is going to saq “yes were rubbish without a good driver…”

And I leave all the jokes up to you man.

Yeah, the approach of having a great engineering team and just get a fast enough driver worked better in the past I think… Today the field is much closer so everything is more fine tuned and having the best engine in the field or the best chassis alone is not going to win the championship anymore like it did in the past. In the 90’s having a Renault engine was almost requisite to win the championship. Today the engine is almost irrelevant due to the regulations. Anyway, just some thoughts…
