We mentioned several weeks ago that Toro Rosso technical director, Giorgio Ascanelli, was having some issues that saw him absent from the paddock. No shock then that the Italian has officially left the team. Team boss Franz Tost said he “made an important contribution” while Ascanelli said:
“It’s been an intense time. We managed the transition from a small team to a larger one and have sown seeds for a successful future.”
The technical boss has been with the team since 2007 and faced the challenges of a small team and move to fully independent chassis builder from a customer team of Red Bull’s. He’s di have the honored position of seeing the teams first win with Sebastian Vettel back in 2008. The big question now is, how fast can he get unpacked at Ferrari and figure out where they now have put the coffee machine?
