In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, where every millisecond counts, Aston Martin is shaking up its technical team once again. Following a challenging season marked by underwhelming results, the Silverstone-based outfit is parting ways with up to seven senior engineers. This reshuffle, informed by insights from star recruits Adrian Newey and Enrico Cardile, signals a strategic pivot toward greater efficiency and innovation as the team eyes the 2026 regulations.
At the heart of the changes is Eric Blandin, the team’s aerodynamics director, who is set to leave the F1 design group. Blandin joined Aston Martin from Mercedes in 2022 as deputy technical director before transitioning to his aero-focused role in a previous reorganization. While some departing staff may shift to the company’s advanced technologies division, others will exit entirely.
Aston Martin has been on an aggressive talent acquisition spree under owner Lawrence Stroll’s ambitious vision. The team has lured big names like former Red Bull technical director Dan Fallows (who was later dismissed), Blandin from Mercedes, and more recently, Cardile from Ferrari as chief technical officer. Newey, the legendary designer who jumped from Red Bull to become managing technical partner, brings a winning pedigree to the team and has mainly focused on the 2026 car design this year.
