Aston Martin sign more Red Bull aerodynamicists

Aston Martin is making some serious moves to become a main contender in Formula 1. With recent departures of some of the key personnel at Mercedes, Red Bull has now experienced some poaching as well at the hands of Aston Martin.

Aston Martin previously announced they will be joined by Red Bull’s head of aerodynamics, Dan Fallows, and now they have just hired aerodynamicist Andrew Alessi. If you consider an all-new investment strategy and ownership of the team by Lawrence Stroll, you could see why people like Dan, Andrew and even Sebastian Vettel were keen to work there.

It will be interesting to see what impact this might have when you consider that Red Bull is one team who tends to lead in aerodynamic design under the veteran wisdom of Adrian Newey. In fact, many believe that this year’s performance advantage is all down to aerodynamics and losing these key members can’t be good.

Red Bull recently poached five engineers from Mercedes in their engine department as they are now forging ahead with their own engine program. What they gained in engine wisdom they could be losing in aerodynamics but time will tell.
