Last year my wife and I went to the Belgian GP. On our grandstand we were uncomfortable with fellow Dutch ‘fan’s’ drinking heavily, blocking our view and being unfriendly. We tried to ignore them and as circumstances went, we left the circuit early. We were rained off but also helped in our decision to leave early because of these ‘fan’s’. Austria is now also off our list. We plan to go to next year’s Italian GP at Monza.
That’s very unfortunate to hear, Louise. You both are great supporters of the sport and to sit amongst people misbehaving is really not a good thing.
I’ve taken my kids to sporting events here is the US and fans are using foul language and acting like idiots and it’s a shame we’ve culturally de-evolved so much. Surely we can find some decorum again? F1 deserves it.
I blame our leaders. They have landed up in the gutter with their tactics, fake news and mudslinging. Nothing wrong in having a different of opinion; be respectful and polite. Yet in the case of our ex-prime minister, he said slurs, lied and refused to apologise. Same for his crew. Is it no wonder that people see this and believe it is acceptable?
