With all the best intentions, Izod Indycar launched their new website today replete with an email/press release. As of 5pm, I still can’t log on to the site and get a 404 error. Hey, I run a website so I understand the issues that can crop up. I have all the patience for Indycar, it’s not always easy getting a website up and running the way you want it and niggle come out of the woodwork to confound you at every turn. Regardless, there isa  lot to talk about this weekend in Indycar.

Indycar’s newest rookie of over 300 Formula One Grands Prix, Rubens Barrichello, will make his debut in Florida. The world is excited about the Brazilians role at KV Racing and the arrival of such a magnanimous and personable guy to the sport of American open-wheel racing.  So now it’s prediction time.  How will Rubens do?  LEave your predictions below.

As for me?  I think he’ll do fabulous and be right on pace but that’s just the Rubens fan in me coming out.

I guess he´ll be faster than Kanaan and EJ Viso, but will have trouble keeping up with Franchitti and Power because they have better teams.

Hope he does really well, a podium finish would be fantastic but I can see him winning his first race like Mansell in 93. Go Rubens!

He will do well, but there’s some people who are missing him as hell in F1 right now.

No, it is not the guys in Williams’s wind tunnel but — surprise, surprise —, the Tifosi, who wants him to replace the struggling Massa:

Rubens will do fine… Most of the races are on street and permanent circuits. Also, standing starts will be introduced later in the season, so that will give him an additional edge.

Everybody is still trying to figure out the cars, and Rubens with all his experience should shine. Carbon fibre brakes, clutch on the steering wheel, etc. are things Rubens is used to, unlike the rest of the field (except for a few ex F-1 like Bourdais or Sato)

thats just what Rubens needs – everyone else to have less knowledge of the cars and understanding so he can shine – otherwise he’ll be the same mid field driver he was in F1, unless he’s standing on Schumi’s coat-tails-of-a-car…

Hopefully Schumacher comes to Indy next year just to drive Rubens off the track. But seriously Rubens, RETIRE.

You’re right, the new IndyCar website is horrible! Sherlock Holmes would have trouble finding stuff. It would be great to have a 2012 schedule that included track length and race distance. It would be even better to be able to find most recent session results. Not to mention an audio feed that doesn’t drop every tenth word… Thank you for giving me a place to vent.

So right Scott. The INDYCar website is absolutely shocking. All I wanted to find just now was the Qualifying Order and times for St Petersburg race, 9 hours before the race start. Nothing!!! Go looking for a race track layout and sector timing locations, and …. nothing!! Go looking for basic St.Petersburg track info like length and layout, and… nothing! OK… go looking for Driver profiles with background, past racing histories and results, and again… almost nothing!! A list of headshots with team and last years championship order, and THAT IS ALL. The IndyCar website is simply awful. Does anyone… Read more »
