Because Germans love David…Couthard

While he has been busy as a F1 commentator for the BBC, David Couthard has quietly been winning friends and influencing people, Eddie Jordan not withstanding, in Germany.

Apparently thought it would be a good idea to run a poll and ask German DTM fans what they think of the Scot. Most are impressed.

Learning the series has been challenging for former F1 drivers, just ask Ralf Schumacher, but Coulthard seems to be picking up the nuance and while not leading the grid, he is progressing. Only 8% of the 2,000 respondents said he sucks…actually that wasn’t the language they used but I’ll be damned if I can read German and the translation is sure to be cocked up.

If I’m honest, I think I like DC banging fenders with Eddie Jordan more than I do watching him race but that’s just me. Not to mention he dresses more sensibly than Eddie but that’s part of Eddie’s charm right? To look like Kai Ebel of RTL?

While Spengler won at Nurburgring, Coulthard was able to remain a respectable 10th from start to finish. With the Mercedes ride, you’d think DC would be a little nicer regarding his comments about Michael Schumacher huh?

In other DTM news, Mercedes handed Audi their backside at Nurburgring. They currently lead the championship making one wonder what Audi is doing there in the first place.
