Renault’s technical director, Bob Bell, will now take over as team principle for the remainder of the 2009 season. This move was announced today as speculation had many different contenders for the position ranging from David Richards to former champion Alain Prost.
Filling the vacant role as the teams managing director will be Jean-François Caubet. The teams said:
“They will both report to Bernard Rey, President of the Renault F1 Team.
“Bob Bell will attend all the remaining races of the season and will be the team’s spokesperson on all sporting and technical matters.
“The Renault F1 Team is now ready to concentrate on the future and wishes to stress that no further comments or statements will be issued relating to the events of Singapore 2008.”

This is probably the best move and path of least resistance. With all of the turmoil at Renault, stability has to be one of the major objectives. Let us hope that Bell can get things on track and put the incident behind them as they move toward 2010.
