I can’t remember who commented the other day they look at the results and watch if Max didn’t win. I didn’t realize it but I’ve started doing the same thing. Looks like i’ll be getting a lot done for the wife this summer weekends. i don’t know why, I watched Lewis win for years when I preferred other drivers, there’s just something about watching max and red bull dominate that makes a person think ‘it’s such a nice day, I shouldn’t waste it in front of the tv’ and I don’t know exactly what it is but I will say… Read more »
You know what’s really getting me, is the sheer number of races. Back to back to back weekends is draining. As you said, there’s crap to get done and summer to enjoy. For me, it’s not about the Max dominance, but just a sheer volume of watching cars go round.
I’m pretty sure that was me. I deleted the recording of this past weekend’s British Grand Prix once I saw Max won.
I do think there are too many races. That’s not helping matters. I am curious about people who were just fine with 8 years of domination by Merc and were engaged and excited. It was boring. Will Lewis beat Bottas? Can Bottas beat Lewis for once? No one seemed to mind. Now, they are beside themselves and turning the TV with just two seasons of Red Bull’s dominance. Same with Schumacher and 5 years. Some friends tell me they think it is a British driver so that’s ok but Max and Schumi were not ok. Vettel was tolerable for a… Read more »
I think people just don’t get the Dutch, which is why some people don’t like Max. Plus Horner has become a bit of a whinger.
I still watch (and have done so for the last 40+ years) as I find it interesting to see how teams go up and down the grid, driver performances etc. sure, it’d be nice to see a closer battle up the front, but this isn’t anything new.
I didn’t like it when Merc dominated for all those years and I don’t like it now with Red Bull. Seeing someone win over and over and over again is just not my cup of tea. It’s no fun watching a race when the top spot is already decided before the green flag ever waived. Just my opinion.
But F1 has pretty much always been this way. It’s a bit more extreme now, but it’s nothing new.
That was a lot of fun! For a few races a year, please do keep Grace back for the odd race review.
And likewise, maybe Paul needs more Albon’s Cats in his life, for the off weeks.
First time commenting! I’ve enjoyed listening to your content for a couple years now. I really appreciate you being able to give context to what I’m watching on track. I’m nearly done with this podcast but I just wanted to chime in that I totally agree with Grace that something needs to change with the pre race grid walk. I’ve stopped watching it because I don’t like seeing someone that knows the sport so well and is an actual racing driver talk to people that know zero about F1. They have nothing in common! And the celebrities usually have this… Read more »
