The biggest problem with the sprint race, and what it robs from the race race, is that because qualifying (one lap as fast as possible) is so different from race day, you always get cars out of place, so there’s more action on the race. With the Q, S, R format, all the cars are basically sorted for the race race, so less action (this season being an exception as the teams are all so close [except Haas] this year).
