The biggest problem with the sprint race, and what it robs from the race race, is that because qualifying (one lap as fast as possible) is so different from race day, you always get cars out of place, so there’s more action on the race. With the Q, S, R format, all the cars are basically sorted for the race race, so less action (this season being an exception as the teams are all so close [except Haas] this year). I’m not 100% sold on Sprint but I do think there are ways to possibly improve it or have a longer look at quali and how that might be expanded etc.
As I suspected, this was a fun one to listen to. Of course Paul got mosquito bites from Lyme Rock…. hahah.
