Canadian protesters make 1st impact on F1

The traditional ‘open door’ walk for fans in the pit lane has been canceled this weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix. Event organizers have decided, due to the threats from protesting student groups, that they will not host he famous fan walk–through event as the protesters suggested they would disrupt the event to bring light to their cause.

A circuit statement read:

“Following a serious examination of the situation, made necessary by public disruption threats and the difficulty to measure their precise validity, the organisers came to the conclusion that it is necessary to restrain the access to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and precisely the F1 pitlane, on the day preceding the first sessions on track,” said the statement.
