Davidson breaks back at 24 Hours of Le Mans

The 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans is taking its toll on many teams including the freshman effort from Toyota with their hybrid car. Both Toyota cars are officially out of the race before the half-way mark with a spectacular crash by Anthony Davidson.

The british veteran driver came together with #81 AF Corse car sending both cars into the Armco at high speed. Davidson’s car flew throughout he air before landing right-side up and headlong into the wall with a tremendous amount of energy. Davidson suffered a fractured T11 and T12 vertebrae. Davidson confirmed his injuries to AUTOSPORT via a text message saying:

“Well that was a big one! Lying in a French hospital with a broken back wasn’t what I had in mind at this stage in the race…”
