Details as of the time of this post are limited but GMM is reporting that police were called to the Renault F1 factory and that paramedics are confirming a man has died there.Police are not confirming rumors that there was a gun involved but the local paper the Oxford Mail reported that there was a gun involved. The Oxford Mail did say it was an employee.
Renault have confirmed the death of an employee, William Millar, from their R&D department.
Update:
“A 53-year-old man was seen walking down a bridleway on the Renault site,” a police spokesman was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.
“A few moments later a shot was fired. His body was discovered at the scene and he had died from a shot to the head.
“We are not treating this incident as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner.”
It now appears to have been an apparent suicide by a 27-year veteran employee of Renault.
“Everyone at the team is deeply shocked to lose such a valued member of staff who had been with the team for 27 years,” a spokesman said.
