Autosport has officially weighed in with their sources and are suggesting that Ron Dennis will step down as Team Principle.
This is more of what I expected after Martin Whitmarsh was keen to remind us of the three roles Ron does currently hold at McLaren. I would be very shocked if Ron stepped away from the team entirely as he is an owner but his promoting MArtin to Team Principle makes a lot of sense and is what I have been suggesting for several months. I think in the best interest of McLaren, their sponsors, employees and Mercedes; Ron should take a higher level position and step out of the pit wall position. Nothing unlike Jean Todt has done. Let’s not forget that Jean Todt let this whole thing happen on his watch as well and it is increasingly embarrassing that he had not tighter control of his technical information than this.
