F1 Chief Executive Bernard Ecclestone has given his endorsement of a potential buyout of the Brackley-based F1 team (aka Honda F1) by Sir Richard Branson. Bernie said:
“If Virgin are interested and people say they want the same management, then that’s great too.”
bernie said he would welcome Branson and the Virgin brand “with open arms”.
“He’s exactly the type of person we would want in the sport,” He added.
“Sir Richard Branson is a wonderful guy. I met him at Monza last year and we got on very well,” said Ecclestone.
That stands to reason that they got on well. They have a billion things in common. ;) Not to mention that bernie wants a full grid and finding a person who has deep pockets and panache is always good. Vijay has flair and cash so this would add to the charisma of F1 owners. Maybe Sir Richard could be a key instrument in Bernie’s plan to get one owner to leave FOTA of be a embedded spy. A fellow billionaire Brit would fit that role perfectly. :) Just Kidding Richard.
