Ecclestone: Dennis resignation has no bearing

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone told Daily Mail that Ron Dennis’s resignation may have been meant to soften the potential punishment that could be leveraged on the team at this months WMSC. Apparently Bernie feels that this will have no bearing on the hearing:

‘Ron going makes no difference. I don’t know if he
stepped back to put distance between himself and the team, but it won’t matter to
the council.

‘They will still want to investigate what went on around the stewards’ hearing
in Australia. If he resigned to stop the hearing, it won’t work. This is not about the personalities of Ron and Max, it is about finding out if there was more to what happened than we have already learned.’
