We all know just about everything we talk about right now falls under the “It’s too early” banner.
It’s too early to write of the Formula 1 season as boring. (Although I don’t think Australia should make us feel all is well in the world.) It’s too early to judge Red Bull. It’s too early to judge Michael Schumacher.
But I did scoot on over to the official Formula 1 site to check on the standings after Melbourne, in part because with the new scoring system in place I don’t immediately has as good a sense where all the drivers and teams are. Eighteen points here, 15 points there, what’s it all mean?
Well, at this point, it all means that Ferrari and McLaren are starting to pull away from the pack, although one one-two finish by any team (we’re looking at you, Red Bull!) and the standings would be shuffled a lot.
Still, I’m not sure I would have guessed Fernando Alonso was still No. 1 or that Jenson Button hadn’t caught Felipe Massa. Or how about Robert Kubica being ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Renault tied with Red Bull?
I know we are only two races in, but still… anything jump out at the F1B community?
