Before I get started with this week’s #F1Chat preview, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who joined us last week and sent their questions to @f1elvis – and thank you again to Marc for joining us.
With F1 on its summer break, the news has been slower than usual this week, but here’s what’s coming up on #F1Chat tomorrow…
Firstly, news this week is that Martin Whitmarsh wants to step down as chairman of FOTA – if and when this happens, who do you think should replace him?
In the last couple of weeks, Double DRS has been banned from 2013 onwards. What are your thoughts on this? The teams have also agreed not to have an in-season test next year and there will be just three pre-season tests in February and March – what do you think of this decision?
Ross Brawn says 5th in the constructor standings this season will not be good enough for Mercedes. They’re currently 83 points behind Ferrari, who themselves are just as confusingly 4th, despite Alonso leading the drivers’ standings. Can Mercedes achieve better than 5th in the standings – they’ve got Red Bull, McLaren and Lotus ahead of them as well as Ferrari? And what about Ferrari? Alonso is their main points-scorer. Lotus, who are currently third, have some updates coming for the start of the second half of the season – what can we expect from them for the remainder of the season?
Let’s talk a bit about the season so far (seeing as it’s been a slow news week). Which race has been your favourite so far this season? Who’s your driver of the first half of 2012? What’s been the biggest disappointment of the year? Surprise of the year?
Join us tomorrow at the usual time of 4pm Eastern US, 9pm UK, using the #F1Chat hashtag to answer the questions – as always, we look forward to seeing you there.
