Technical Delegate’s Report

A seal was broken on the engine of car number 14, driver Mark Webber, in order to check the integrity of the LHS upper bush for the engine mounting stud.

This was done in accordance with Article 28.4 of the 2009 FIA Formula One Sporting
Regulations.

TECHNICAL DELEGATE’S REPORT

After the first free practice session:

It was checked that all cars did not exceed 18000 rpm during the first free practice session.

The fuel pressure of all cars during the first free practice session was checked. A fuel sample was taken from car number 11.

After the second free practice session:

Car numbers 01 and 10 were weighed.

Car numbers 01 and 10 were checked for the following:

1) Bodywork around the front wheels
2) Front wing height and overhang
3) Rear wing height and overhang
4) Front and rear wing width
5) Rear wing configuration
6) Rear bodywork area
7) Rear winglet height
8) Stepped bottom
9) Overall height
10) Overall width

The tyres used by all drivers during the sessions today have been checked. A fuel sample was taken from car number 17.

The results of fuel analyses show that the fuels were the same as ones, which had been approved for use by the relevant competitors prior to the Event.

All the above items were found to be in conformity with 2009 FIA Formula One Technical
Regulations.

The following drivers will start the twelfth Event of the 2009 Formula One World
Championship with a new gearbox:

After the third free practice session today a seal was broken on the gearbox of car number
22, driver Jenson Button, in order to change the physically damaged 6th gear ratio.

This was done in accordance with Article 28.6d of the 2009 Formula One Sporting
Regulations.

A seal was broken on the gearbox of car number 23, driver Rubens Barrichello, in order to change the physically damaged 4th gear ratio and associated dog ring.

This was done in accordance with Article 28.6d of the 2009 Formula One Sporting
Regulations.

Before the qualifying practice session:

The thickness of the brake discs of all cars taking part in the qualifying session was checked.

During the qualifying practice session:

Car numbers 17 and 20 were weighed.

Car numbers 17 and 20 were checked for the following:

1) Bodywork around the front wheels
2) Front wing height and overhang
3) Rear wing height and overhang
4) Front and rear wing width
5) Rear wing configuration
6) Rear bodywork area
7) Rear winglet height
8) Stepped bottom
9) Diffuser height
10) Diffuser width
11) Overall height
12) Overall width

Fuel samples were taken from car numbers 07 and 12.

After the qualifying practice session:

Car numbers 04, 05, 06, 09, 10, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 23 were weighed.

Car numbers 04, 05, 06, 09, 10, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 23 were checked for the following:

1) Bodywork around the front wheels
2) Front wing height and overhang

3) Rear wing height and overhang
4) Front and rear wing width
5) Rear wing configuration
6) Rear bodywork area
7) Rear winglet height
8) Stepped bottom
9) Diffuser height
10) Diffuser width
11) Overall height
12) Overall width

The chassis identification transponders have been confirmed for car numbers 04, 05, 06,
09, 10, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 23.

A front wing deflection test was carried on car numbers 06, 09 and 21.

The logged pressure within the engine cooling system during the qualifying sessions was checked for car numbers 04, 05, 06, 09, 10, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 23.

It was confirmed for all drivers taking part in the qualifying session that they have used their sealed engine.

The units locking status was checked on car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23. The logger usage was checked on car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23.
Software version checks have been carried out on car number 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23. Gear shift data checks have been carried out for car numbers 04, 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23. The gear shift configuration of car numbers 04, 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23 was checked. Engine protections were checked on car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23.
The maximum throttle target was checked for car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23.

The driver torque demand map gradient was checked on car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and
23.

The throttle pedal shaping map selection was checked on car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and
23.

The front wing control was checked for car numbers 05, 06, 09, 21 and 23. The KERS control was checked for car numbers 01, 02, 03 and 04.
It was checked that all cars did not exceed 18000 rpm during the qualifying practice session.

The fuel pressure of all cars during the qualifying session was checked.

The tyres used by all drivers during the sessions today have been checked. Fuel samples were taken from car numbers 06, 21 and 23.
All the fuel samples have been checked for density and analysed by gas chromatography.

The results of fuel analyses show that the fuels were the same as ones, which had been approved for use by the relevant competitors prior to the Event.

After the qualifying session the gearbox of car number 03, driver Luca Badoer, was replaced for a new one.

The driver has not used this gearbox for four consecutive Events and as this is not in compliance with Article 28.6 of the 2009 Formula One Sporting Regulations, the driver will drop five places on the starting grid.

Before the race:

The following parts have been replaced today after 12:30 and before the start of the race:

Car 14: LHS front flap LVDT

Car numbers 02, 03, 11, 16, 21 and 23 have been weighed.

A fuel sample was taken from the refuelling rig of car numbers 03, 08 and 22 and analysed during the race.

On the grid it was checked that all cars had fitted their tyres when the 3-Minutes board was shown.

A front floor deflection test was carried on car numbers 04, 05 and 21.

It was confirmed for car number 21 that the minimum weight of 605 kg was respected at all times during the race.

The units locking status was checked on car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21.

Software version checks have been carried out on car number 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21. The logger usage was checked on car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21.
The start data of car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21 have been checked. Engine protections were checked on car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21.
The gear shift data of car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21 have been checked. The gear shift configuration of car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21 was checked. The maximum throttle target was checked for car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21.
The driver torque demand map gradient was checked on car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and
21.

The throttle pedal shaping map selections were checked on car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21.

The front wing control was checked for car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21.

The pit lane speed limiter use was checked for car numbers 02, 04, 05, 15 and 21. The KERS control was checked for car number 04.
It was checked that car numbers 04, 15 and 21 did not exceed 18000 rpm during the race. The fuel pressure of car numbers 04, 15 and 21 during the race was checked.
The tyres used by all drivers during the sessions today have been checked.

The data logger of the refuelling rig of car numbers 20 and 21 has been checked.

A fuel sample was taken from car numbers 02, 15 and 21.
The fuel samples have been checked for density and analysed by gas chromatography. The results of all the fuel analyses show that the fuels were the same as ones, which had
been approved for use by the relevant competitors prior to the Event.

All car weights and the items checked were found to be in conformity with the 2009 FIA Formula One Technical Regulations.
