Longtime IndyCar tire manufacturer Firestone will replace Honda as sponsor of the season opener at St. Petersburg, Florida in a multiyear deal.
This makes the second race that Firestone will sponsor this season with, the first being the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway in June.
According to the St. Petersburg Tribune, the deal took promoter Green Savoree Promotions about a month to put together.

Lisa Boggs, director of Bridgestone Amersicas Motorsports (parent company of Firestone), was also very optimistic about the partnership.

The Streets of St. Petersburg will play host to the Grand Prix for the 10th time in 2014 on March 28-30. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1.
