For all those Fisi fans who are tired of hearing about David Coulthard’s glorious return to racing, this just in from our friends at Ferrari:
There are just a few days to go before Giancarlo Fisichella tackles the first of five rounds in the Le Mans Series, taking place at France’s Paul Ricard circuit, one month from the series’ official test session held at this track which currently celebrates forty years of racing activity.
Awaiting Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro’s third driver is a special race which will allow all the teams to get in shape for the Le Mans 24 Hours. The eagerly anticipated event gets underway on Friday with a double session of free practice, with Saturday’s timetable featuring the third and final practice, followed by the grid deciding qualifying session prior to the marathon length race, which runs from 11am to 7pm on Sunday.
Along with Finnish champion Toni Vilander and Jean Alesi, who raced in F1 for the Maranello Scuderia from 1991 to 1995, Fisichella, who is getting his first taste of GT2 racing, will be behind the wheel of car 95, one of three entered by the AF Corse team. The two other F430 entered by the team from Piacenza will be crewed by Luis Perez Companc and Matias Russo (94) and Gianmaria Bruni and Jaime Melo (96.) A further four F430s will be among the fourteen other cars fighting for the win in the GT2 class.
Now who’s the man, DC???!!! That’s right! Pizza-making, Force India driving, Ferrari testing Fisi…that’s who!
