Flavio Wants Majortiy-Rule In Formula One

5

ITV carries a story quoting F1 Racing Magazine where Flavio Briatore says he would like the majority to rule in the new Concorde Agreement. The current agreement is set to end in 2007 and the details of the new agreement are being finalized. Flavio shares his views:

“Personally, I wish F1 could be run by Bernie [Ecclestone], supported by Max [Mosley], as a dictatorship,” he told the latest issue of F1 Racing magazine (on sale now).

“That isn’t possible any more, because the F1 world has become so corporate.

“So we must introduce a majority-rule system with the new Concorde Agreement.

“At the moment, nothing can be decided without unanimity.

“You wouldn’t even run the residents’ committee of an apartment block like that, let alone a global $3 billion sport.

“It’s crazy.”

Hmmm, looks like I’m not the only Bernie fan out here.

Bernie…. The Vampire Dude?

Though I agree with Flav, it should be majority rule, not unanimous like it is now….

I agree as well. Eventually Max and Bernie are there to protect the minority and be the voice of reason against an errant majority decision. But to require unanimous consent would be difficult to say the least.

Then that must be another one of those Flav jokes, right?

Well at least he’s right about the unanimous thing, no wonder things take quite some time to sort themselves out… And I thought democracy was hard, try F1 politics. Hey here’s a lesson learned: if you can survive F1 politics, you can survive the government. Same principle as if you can drive in Jakarta, you can drive anywhere else.
