Force India, Adrian Sutil…together again

Sounds like Sahara Force India is seeking some equity in their driver decision as they told AUTOSPORT they had a seat-fitting for former driver Adrian Sutil. Sutil’s name has been mentioned or at least rumored as a potential teammate to Paul di Resta at Force India but Jules Bianchi drove in the first test in Jerez two weeks ago.

“Adrian has had a seat fitting with the team this week,” a spokesperson said.

“At this stage, the test driving schedule for the Barcelona test is not finalised but there is a possibility Adrian could be involved.

“The driving schedule will be communicated on Monday next week.”

So let’s have a seat fitting but then not run Adrian at the next test? Doesn’t seem logical but that’s the position they’ve stated. If both drivers bring cash, I suppose a back-to-back test to see who has pace (in Bianchi’s case) and who still have pace (in Sutil’s case) might be a good way to vet the driving talent.

For my part, I tend to think Sutil is a known entity at Force India and while the team may like him and he may have good feedback, he didn’t set the world afire when he was there so can we assume he has a wallet, or man purse, full of cash that makes his return to the team a compelling thought? Sutil was no slouch in the car but at this stage in the teams progress and with Paul di Resta on board, could Bianchi be a better long-term investment?
