Join Grace and me as we discuss Ferrari’s threat, Sauber and Alfa Romeo (Alfber), Logos and more. We even offer a few awards and also manage to talk long enough to keep our long commuters happy.

1. …..and that’s when I start relying on football, basketball and hockey to get me the rest of the way.
2. “Alfber”? Why does that sound like “FINBARRRRR”?
3. So, depending on who fills that empty Williams seat, does Lance Stroll become the #1 driver, and what would his attitude be depending on that decision?

So, depending on who fills that empty Williams seat, does Lance Stroll become the #1 driver, and what would his attitude be depending on that decision? 4. Yeah, I would pay to see that title fight, and I would hope that Carey wins that one. 5. Why even change the logo at all? 6. I’d have to wonder what that “focus group” consisted of. 7. ….and, oddly enough, negative space combined… Read more »
2. I’m thinking Saulfa.
Pelfa Saumero?
2. Why don’t we just call them by their initials like that other Italian team STR? A.R.S.
I like Alfber, but depending on how they do ARS may be more appropriate.
Thanks for the acknowledgement for “post of the week”. I guess I must watch F1 races with a greater eye for detail because Pirelli does offer road tires with different colored brand typeface on the sidewalls. They had a rather large sponsor placement at every track usually at a primary turn or chicane for these custom P-Zero tires. Upon further investigation, these tires are only available for certain brands of road-going hypercars(Bugatti, Ferrari, etc) and very specific sizes but you can order the color of your choice.

Grace. Pirelli tires on a BMW?
Seriously?
Seriously?
I don’t even use the P word around my BMW.
I wonder what they’ll call the next soft compound, after they decide the “Hypersoft” is too hard. “Ultra Hypersoft”? Anyway, regarding tires; Why not just give the each driver an allotment of 320 sets of tires for the season (assuming 20 races here), equally divided between the compounds and then let the driver/team decide when and where to use the tires?! This would – potentially – lead to more diverse strategies, even though the teams most likely would come to, more or less, the same conclusions. They might still impose the two compound rule as it is now, but it… Read more »
I agree, let’s mix things up a bit and give more room for tactical or strategy errors. :)
“we might leave in and take Alfa in 2020” Thats why Sauber is keeping those Honda engines that they got from McLaren in the container out the back. Hedging
I think Fiat Chrysler is missing a golden opportunity to court American fans. If they can rebadge Sauber’s engines as Alfas, why not badge Hass’s as Mopars?
Exor controls Fiat and Ferrari and has the power to put Marchionne at the top of both businesses. This means that from the practical POV they can choose to act as if they are still one business. F1 recognizes teams as a legal entity so names are flexible. If Ferrari does not like something they could take a sabbatical without risking their status as being the longest standing team in F1 by simply renaming Scuderia Ferrari to any of the FCA brands, like Fiat or Alfa. This takes a powerful marketing tool away from Liberty. Ferrari can simply switch back… Read more »
Just listen to the podcast yesterday and now, thanks to Todd and Sean Bratches, cannot get this song out of my head.
