French Grand Prix: Government support?

You can always assure yourself that if it is being done in France it is replete with politics and attacks from all fronts. such is the case with the new Flins-Les-Mureaux foray as it has hit “political problems” according to former driver Alain Prost. Now the Prime Minister says:

“I cannot believe that we do not have a grand prix of France,” prime minister Francois Fillon, born in Le Mans and a keen motor racing enthusiast, told Europe 1 radio.

He promises that the “government will do everything so that there is a (GP) as quickly as possible”, for example in 2010 or 2011.

Uh, okay. We’ll see. I would like to have one there but after Disney fell through, I am not sure who would host if it wasn’t Paul Rcard which is owned by Bernard Eccelstone. Hmmm.
