Honda Dumping Rubens? Harsh!

6

In a story at P-F1 citing F1 Magazine as the source, there are rumors that Honda has had it with Rubens undistinguished performance as he was outpaced by Jenson. In fact, they are considering moving him to Super Aguri for 2008. They even quote Honda engineers as saying that he should retire because he was scared at the last race. Ouch!

I think this is harsh criticism for a guy who is capable of winning Grands Prix. Have they ever thought, just for a second, that it may have something to do with the pile of crap they fielded this year and if you are measuring Rubens by his performance to Jenson…maybe, just maybe, Jenson has been there longer and has learned to drive a piece of crap better than Rubens who came from Ferrari where he drove a real car? Suffer it Honda; you suck and blaming it on Rubens is weak by anyone’s measure. I hope you do move Rubens to Super Aguri; at least he’ll beat your honda works team in the points. Sad from a “professional organization” like Honda.

I totally agree todd, Honda bad mouthing Rubens really sucks when they gave him a car that was so worthless. The only saving grace in this is that Honda did when a “Green” award.

I agree that Honda is being idiotic but I’m guessing its in retaliation for the crap Rubens said oh so publicly about the 2006 Honda sucking the big one and preferring to crash in the last race than drive the 2006 car anymore. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Honda didn’t really like that.

So moral of the story: Don’t publicly bad mouth the person who signs your paycheck. Even if they deserve said bad mouthing.

I knew the end was near for Rubens when Gil DeFerran left Honda earlier this year. He was Rubens buddy that got him to leave Ferrari and sign with Honda. I would make a change at Honda just to make a change after that bad year and since Honda has so much money invested into Jenson – Rubens is the logical choice. I know whe have all speculated before with McClaren but maybe Rubens is not a “Car Developer Type Driver” either. Drivers must give the feedback to let the engineers know what they want out of the car.

Poor mumintroll, he had such a cheery face before he went to Honda too.

It’s certainly evident in motogp that Honda has never taken well to rider criticism. Perhaps if they listed to some of it they might be performing better though.
