How did the Sun not include Hamilton in this story?

Everyone’s favorite source of credible Formula 1 news has a bit of a doozy today.

The paper claims that McLaren is looking to end its engine with Mercedes. The story is short — I mean, even short for a piece with almost no source — so I’ll lay it all on ya:

McLAREN are looking to ditch Mercedes and reunite with Honda — as they do not want to pay £8million for their engines.

The Formula One outfit, led by Jenson Button, have been partners with the German car giants since 1995.

McLaren get their F1 engines for free but will have to start paying from next season.

A source said: “There is no way McLaren will stay as a customer for Mercedes engines.”

McLaren and Honda dominated F1 in the late 80s and early 90s.

Umm… hello? McLaren’s looking elsewhere for engines because of a few lousy million pounds? Surely the Sun could have come up with a better story than that. How about:

McLaren is looking to ditch Mercedes in retaliation for the German outfit’s signing away of former world champ Lewis Hamilton.

“They are ticked off beyond belief,” a source said. “They are looking for any way out.”

Honda is believed to be one possible replacement. McLaren and Honda dominated F1 in the late 80s and early 90s.

Isn’t that a better story?

I should probably point out that neither is true… yet!
