According to rumors, the Indian Grand Prix could be in doubt for 2015 but those are “malicious and baseless” rumors according to Jaypee Sports International. It was suggested that JPSI were in financial trouble and that the 2015 race could be in danger. JPSI told Reuters:

“Our agreement with Formula One Management is to hold F1 races at Buddh International Circuit (BIC) till 2015, and we are fully committed to do that,” Askari Zaidi, spokesman for Jaypee Sports International, said in a statement.

“There is no reason for us to give up hosting F1 races,”

JPSI said they are keen to get more racing at the Buddh Circuit including motorcycles. Track economics have to work and I have always been surprised to see new circuits in emerging markets that host one race per year. Even with government backing for the Formula One sanctioning fee and construction of the circuit, they still have maintenance and that isn’t cheap. In Austin  the MotoGP series and Australian V8 supercar series join Formula One in running there and even more events around its entertainment venues. The economics have to work.
