Japanese GP qualifying postponed

Super typhoon Hagibis has forced the postponement of Saturday’s qualifying session. The Formula 1 website announced:

“As a result of the predicted impact of Typhoon Hagibis on the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix 2019, Mobilityland and the Japanese Automobile Federation (JAF) have decided to cancel all activities scheduled to take place on Saturday, 12 October,” read a statement.

“The FIA and Formula 1 support this decision in the interest of safety for the spectators, competitors and everyone at the Suzuka Circuit.”

This means that teams will have only two sessions to dial in their cars for the race on Sunday and hope that rain in and around the expected heaviest part on Saturday doesn’t spoil Friday or Sunday’s events.

Okay, we can all breathe a little sign of relief. Next question: Will there be anything in Suzuka left to race on?

Anyone see anything from ESPN yet on what they are gonna do? They still have the old schedule pinned on their twitter feed but nothing about the new quali time.

Edit: They just updated the schedule and will be showing it at 8:55pm Sat on ESPNNews
