Leclerc on pole for Monaco GP

Charles Leclerc claims pole position for his home race at the Monaco Grand Prix. Ferrari will start on pole position with teammate, Carlos Sainz starting third leaving McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in the proverbial Ferrari sandwich starting second.

There was no mistaking the struggles Red Bull were having from the very first practice session and despite a herculean effort from Max Verstappen, he’ll start from P6 on Sunday with his teammate, Sergio Perez, knocked out in Q1 starting in P18.

McLaren and Ferrari have certainly brought the fight to Red Bull in the last few races and Monaco is no exception. While Red Bull knew the streets of Monte Carlo were not going to flatter their car, it is making for a very exciting season with Red Bulk, Ferrari and McLaren all battling for wins.

Oscar Piastri had a brilliant qualifying run to P2 with Lando Norris slightly off the pace of Oscar and starting in P4. Equally impressive was the newfound pace of Mercedes in the streets of Monaco with George Russell overcoming a steering issue to qualify P5 and Lewis Hamilton in P7.

The feel-good part of qualifying was the impressive P8, 9 and 10 for Yuki Tsunoda, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly. The three out-qualified their teammates to potentially give their respective teams much-needed points.

Hopefully Sainz can refrain from crashing into Piastri for a change.
