Lotterer offered Caterham seat in Abu Dhabi; thanks but no thanks?

You might recall that Caterham had a one-off run of Le Mans 24 Hours winner Andre Lotterer back at the Belgium Grand Prix. With the team’s announcement that they plan on attending the race in Abu Dhabi, Andre says they’ve asked him to come back for the final race and he said:

“Caterham wants me to race in Abu Dhabi but I am not sure if I will take up the offer,” he said.

Two things come to mind: The team is in the middle of a challenging political and financial firestorm and given the reasonable suspicion over Kamui Kobayashi’s tweets regarding dodgy parts on the car (which has now sat still for a few weeks), it might give you reason for pause.

It remains to be seen who will take the seat but I suspect a young paying driver would be more than willing to climb in and get a shot at F1.
