Formula 1 teams are allowed “Filming” days during the year and although the runs are limited in distance as well as a demonstration tire (not current spec racing tire), it is an opportunity to do some shake down of a system.
That’s exactly what McLaren will do at Silverstone as they tweeted:
Getting set for Silverstone tomorrow for a filming day. We’ll be parading the interim Honda-engined MP4-29H/1X1 & 2 classic McLaren-Hondas.

Honda’s return to F1 in the guise of an engine supplier has been a big move for McLaren as they part ways with Mercedes after decades of working together. The new Honda power unit will be married to a B-spec chassis and tested at one of the filming days at Silverstone.
It is a big moment when power unit and chassis come together and actually run. Can’t wait to hear it and see how they get on.
