There were calls Sunday evening for Max Mosley to resign as FIA President after News of the World revealed photographs and video allegedly of the Governing Boss of F1 with 5 hookers in a simulated torture chamber with Nazi themes.
Many Jewish leaders have called for Mosley’s resignation stating it is outrageous behavior and offensive to the Jewish community. Mosley, who recently launched Racing against Racism after Spanish fans mocked the race of Lewis Hamilton at a winter testing event, is placed in a tenuous position as he allegedly re-enacted erotic Nazi death camp scenes as he spoke gave orders in German. According to the times online, long-time friend of Mosley’s and commercial rights holder of F1 Bernie Ecclestone was shocked by the allegations and has said:
“I’ve known him an awful long time. If somebody had told me this without the evidence I would have found it difficult to believe, Assuming it’s all true, what people do privately is up to them. I don’t honestly believe [it] affects the sport in any way. Knowing Max it might be all a bit of a joke. You know, it’s one of those things where he’s sort of taking the p***, rather than anything against Jewish people.â€
While a spokesman for Mr. Mosley has said that they are in touch with the paper and that this has nothing to do with the FIA, it will be hard for the FIA to stay neutral as pressure will mount in the coming days. The full Times Online story can be found here.
