Nico To Lead Williams Back

6

Now here is a young man who has his head on straight or at least is listening to his Dad (or Grace for that matter). Instead of turning each interview into a PR nightmare, Nico says very succinctly that he would like to be a part of a Williams Revival of sorts. He doesn’t want the flash of a title with the best car, he wants to build a career and take a team to the top. He has terrific pedigree, moments of brilliance, a terrific team and the right attitude to do it. He wants what Alonso and Schumacher built. I like this kid more each day and seeing him drive last year has made him a real possibility to be a champ. Let’s hope Sir Frank can put the right car under him to do so.

go for it nico! just make sure nakajima doesn’t run you over! :)

but seriously, it’d be great to see williams return to form after so long. nico gels well with the team, and he won’t be given too much grief from his new teammate, so he’s a clear number one. we just may see nico and williams kick it up a notch next season. they certainly left their engine supplier in the dust last season.

I agree Nico seems like a great person and driver. The problem is he is driving a Williams. The problem with Williams is who the team is named for! As soon as a driver starts doing well and the car starts moving up the grid, Sir Frank, will dump the driver faster then a hot potato. I’m not sure what his deal is with dumping drivers but he has a history of this and I’m sure Nico will not be left out of this club!

I really think this is going to be a good season, I would love to see wins come from BMW, Williams, Renault, Macca and I guess for the sake of making it interesting Ferrari. I personally will be cheering for Nick first and Nico second, I know they’re not sure things but that is what I’m going for.

I think this is good for everyone as long as John is wrong (which I’m afraid he isn’t) and SFW drops him as soon as they start doing well.

The issue is really that the driver becomes fair game and SFW doesn’t believe in spending the kind of money other teams do for a driver. I think it is a noble charge but at some point, given Williams lack of performance, they need to re-think a franchise player option.
