ProDrive Will Not Race In 2008!

10

Apparently ProDrive will not field a car in 2008. A Discussed in our last podcast, it seems the business model being challenged buy Williams F1 has put a stop to the entire program for 2008. The issues I ask myself is will they be fined for not showing up in Australia and will the FIA allow another team entry for 2008? Is there a team that could possibly put together a program for 2008 in this short of time? My hunch is no. That’s sad considering this was dragged our so long and no backup plan seemed to be in place.

i thought this was a done deal a while ago. so is the only reason they are being denied because of williams’ protest? i’m not sure who had the final say in this decision. regardless, it’s another legal issue for F1 and the FIA to review…as if they don;t have enough legal matters to deal with now a days.

Well that’s bad news for the drivers who are without drive and without sizzle: one less seat to have a chance to compete for…

I would really have liked to have seen Dave enter F1. I liked him at Honda, whose best performance to date was under his administration, and wanted him to get a team together. The FIA needs to render judgment on this customer car issue post haste so we can get Dave back.

The FIA needs to come out and say that customer cars will not be allowed.. less Formula 1 turn into the IRL with 2 chasis and 2 engines.. It’s bad enough everyone has to use the same Electronic Management Unit… the unit is triangular with an unusual angle on the hookup… I wonder who it was designed for?

I think they should try and find someone to go gor 08 even though it is unlikely. If that doesn’t work they need to start lining up a team for the 09 season now so there ready. Also by “a team” I mean someone other that prodrive, they had their chance and blew it. I know it took the FIA too long to decide on things, but Prodrive knew or should have known that someone was going to complain about a complete customer car. Especially a customer car of a top team. The Fia also should have know this when… Read more »

I agree 100% Lucas… I just don’t get why everyone is acting like its a new idea… they really thought everyone would be okay with this idea? And why did it take so long for the FIA to address it… Sheesh.

Ditto, Grace. Why the long delay when the intention was known up front?

“the unit is triangular with an unusual angle on the hookup… I wonder who it was designed for?”

I think you’ll find that is the Flux Capacitor. Designed for the De Lorean time machine.

I think designer made it for himself.

The major plus will be a large and obvious, flaming like with fire, racing line. Should help rookies learn their way round faster.
