Red Bull’s Vettel takes pole position

Red Bull, the fastest team not using the Double-decker diffuser design, has secured pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel pipped his teammate Mark Webber in the waning moments of Q3 to take pole while Fernando Alonso secured second ahead of Webber.

Ironically Renault engines have secure the top three positions for the start of the Grand Prix. This on the heels of Renault team boss Flavio Briatore’s rant against Brawn GP, it’s drivers and diffuser design. It is unclear what fuel loads the cars are running and one could assume that the Renault of Fernando Alonso is running light due to his outpacing the Brawn GP cars but you can never put it past Fernando to wring the neck of the car and squeeze every ounce from it’s potential.

An astounding performance from the young German Sebastian Vettel giving Red Bull racing it’s first pole position in Formula 1. yet another resounding answer that this young man is the real deal. Lewis Hamilton looked better this weekend but Toyota and Williams were oddly off pace from what was expected. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa failed ot make Q3 while both BMW’s struggled in Q2 and Q3.
