If you like classic motorsports at all — even a wee bit — then you have to take notice of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
That it takes place at one of America’s iconic tracks, Laguna Seca (aka Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca), just sweetens the deal.
The event, taking place this year from Aug. 12-15, will feature a stellar list of cars from all types of motorsports. How do I know? Organizers just released the entry list, which can be found here.
There may be more AMC Javelins here, at one time, than is currently allowed under California law.
Seriously, this is a great event, and this year it will be honored one of America’s true motor racing giants, Dan Gurney.
Cars that will be featured in 10 lap races include 1960s era F1 cars; ’40 and ’50s-era sports and GT cars; late ’60 and early ’70s Trans-Am alumni; plus many, many more.
As someone who has had the chance to drive Laguna Seca in what is as close to “anger” as I can get, I have to say that the thought of these cars careening down the Corkscrew is pretty excited, although for my money, the Andretti Hairpin, Rainey Curve and turn 11 — where my back end always wanted to head sideways — are just about as awesome.
More info on the event is here.
