Great video! Perfectly explained. Loved the comments on the stupid stepped nose and the “no comment” about Massa. hehe

Would be great to see/listen a technical explanation from nico about the heel/toe technique if possible.

Cheers, keep up the great work!

Well that’s what we do at Simraceway Performance Driving Center everyday, so I’m sure we can get that covered. We can take everyones suggestions and see what we can cover in the future

Fantastic stuff! A+

Thanks to Nico Rondet and Paul Charlsey for their time and wisdom, well imparted. Very clear descriptions and great explanations. Could listen to that sort of race kinematic instructives all day. Keep ’em comin’ dudes. JF

Maybe something about seamless shift gearboxes, camless valve operation.

Brazilian French driver, aspiring to be in F1 till funds run out…hmmm interesting choice of authority “Neutral opinion” on Massa :)

Failed actors start acting schools and failed writers/directors become critics, Looks like the trend continues in all walks of life “No comments”

as much as you think you know, your last comments show you know nothing.Nico never had funds (unlike Mr Massa) and had to race and win for every penny he got.A feat that took him all the way to Formula Atlantic success, which is nearly impossible without a sugar daddy He is extremely well respected by many top drivers, just ask the likes of McNish or Kanaan.I would put Nico in a car way before Mr.Massa. The only failure here is you and your snide comment to a guy who gave his time and extremely high knowledge of driving and… Read more »

Paul – Thats not the point. While I eagerly look forward to your views on technology and driving aspect of motor sports. I am merely pointing to lack of objectivity and the root behind the it and its not just Massa, I am defending here. I have always pointed in all my comments on this topic, as another race driver who has seen the rigors of racing and knows what it takes to do what these drivers who have made it to F1 have gone through ( not just thousands of hours of training, the physical, mental and monetary aspects… Read more »

Your point is irrelavant at this point as your rudeness overcame any point you were trying to make

Well I have realized after a long time that any point said by a fan is irrelevant, as we hardly know anything about motor sports, and everything about reading between the lines and between the pauses that happens in real life doesn’t apply in Motor sports. the place where people say what they do and do what they say.

Going forward I will remember its always a driver’s fault , especially when Pundits say so.

That is exceptionally rude W4E. Not cool.
Forget Grace’s list, you just got onto mine. JF

This is EXACTLY the type of information F1 fans need. If SPEED and Bernie do not pay attention, they are nuts.

I’d love to see a series about Grace taking lessons in race driving at simraceway. The audio would probably just consist of constant *beeeep*s because of her swearing, but it’d still be hilarious.

Do you have a level crossing at Sim Raceway? I thought Grace was only really fast when crossing train tracks.

One more piece of information, just to add a touch of difficulty to drivers who drive cars with carbon fiber disc brakes………there is no feed back whatsoever. It is just like kicking a wall, very hard to judge the pressure they are applying as there is no “back pressure” feeling.

With all honesty I found W4ever comments quite pertinent…….and by the way Massa was never well funded had he not produced the results he did he would had never gone further than F Renault.

Nico & Paul, interesting indeed. This reminded me, yet again, how much talent and hard work it takes to perform at this level…repeating a ‘seemingly simple’ task like slowing from speed, all the while efficiently fighting for position, over 60-70+ laps of changing conditions… On a sad note however, thanks to you both and a greater understanding of racing nuance due to your piece, my self-righteous rantings at the TV, (“How could you miss that apex/lock that tire/not see driver N in your mirror/etc/etc????”) may be far less fulfilling! Keep up the good work!

Well done Paul and Nico! Very informative, reinforcing my physics/vehicle dynamics courses i’ve taken in the past.

Paul, could you and Nico explain in a future topic about when to early/late apex corners?

I’m a little late here – long work week – but absolutely great video and thank you Nico for taking the time to chat with us! Looking forward to the next episode. But next time, can you boost Nico’s audio? Maybe it’s just my old ears, but I had youtube and computer volume pinned and still had a little trouble hearing him. Also, we really need to Paul and Nico to provide race commentary some time. I’m sure they could give us some really fascinating insite into what the drivers are doing – or trying to do. Thank again, F1B… Read more »
