Rosberg leads FP2 in Bahrain evening

There were some niggles like a failed front wing for Romain Grosjean and a loose wheel nut for Sebastian Vettel and that have have ended their FP2 session early but perhaps the most encouraging performance was Jenson Button’s P3 pace during the evening session.

The time set by Button may have been super soft tires but given their difficult season last year and tough season-opener this year, it’s a real boost. His teammate, Fernando Alonso, i sidelined for the race this weekend but GP2 ace, Stoffel Vandoorne, is standing in and did a nice job (11th) of it given that he was in Japan just 24 hours ago.

Encouraging to see Haas ahead of not just Manor but Sauber, Force India and Renault. Hopefully they won’t get caught out by super stupid qualifying (© The International).

I find it interesting that Wehrlein was also ahead of the Saubers, and that neither Manor or Sauber used the super soft tyre.

I guess FP3 will tell us more about the pace of the mid field than ‘super stupid qualifying (© The International).
Great to see that Buttons early third fastest has survived FP2, the McLaren Honda team could do with a boost.
As with FP1, the gap between the fastest Mercedes and the fastest other car (1.3sec), covers the gap between 3rd and 16th. Hey Bernie! Try this option, ban the Mercs and racing will be close and unpredictable ;-)
