Rossi to drive at 24 Hours of Le Mans?

F1B friend and legendary owner of Motomatters.com, David Emmett, gave us a tip today about the possibility of Valentino Rossi competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. You may recall that Rossi drove a rally in Italy last week and finished in second place. While it may not have been a proper rally, he finished second nonetheless. Who finished first? None other than Audi driver Dindo Capello.

Rossi

Capello was apparently taken by the young Italians prowess behind the wheel and invited Rossi to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with him. Apparently Rossi said “why not?” as there wasn’t anything pressing around that time in Moto GP anyway and it seemed a good idea.

Now as our friend Mr. Emmett points out:

“it seems highly unlikely that he would be allowed to run at Le Mans by Yamaha (and he may be busy trying to hold off Lorenzo and Stoner), but it’s an interesting thought. It’s definitely something he may do when he’s done with motorcycles.”

That’s probably true but the thought of Rossi and Capello racing together is a terrific idea and would be a lot of fun to see. With Rossi, you never can tell what he’ll do next and if his dabbling in Rally keeps up, who knows? We may just see Rossi battling Kimi Raikkonen in the future.

You can read the story here and here.
