THANK YOU!

I just wanted to keep everyone apprised of the recent sluggish nature of the web site. The occasional “internal Server Error” you are getting and the slow load time had me worried. I initiated a service ticket and had several conversation with our host, GoDaddy.com, and they have been terrific to work with.

The reason for the errors and slow nature of the web site is due to….are you ready for this? TRAFFIC! Yep, we are getting significant traffic to the web page concurrently and this is creating the issue. I am speaking with them of upgrading the hosting account. As with any premium service it requires significantly more money so I am robbing my children’s piggy banks and checking the couches to see if I can get that going for all of us. This hosting a web site thing is expensive. ;)

Thank you to everyone for all your time, consideration, decorum, wisdom and moral support. Grace and I are indebted to all of you and look forward to many more years of F1B. That’s if Grace can put up with me that long. ;)

Hopefully, most of that traffic is caused by someone other than me…

Now if only I could get the spam filter to realize that I am not spam, we’d be in good shape.

But seriously, thanks everyone for reading, posting, and listening. We really do appreciate. Todd’s kids in about 15 years when they have no college fund, not so much.

I went to Godaddy.com to see their hosting plans. For the money they ask it’s a miracle your site shows at all! ;-) Good hosting is expensive…

Neg I have four of my business web sites on Godaddy and they are good but do appear to be a tad slower than my previous provider. Then again, one or twos seconds longer to save big is not a big deal for me.

Maybe you should set up a donation button with Paypal on here for us dedicated listeners/readers to assist you if we can.

Maybe we could ask Ron to float us a loan…

Hey Todd, if were “big” enough to have a donation button, does that mean that F1B.com shirts can’t be far behind?

Grace, I’m sure Ron would love to help out. I mean now is a good time to ask. He was just fined $50,000 for the gearbox and another $100m (or ~200m depending on how you look at it). What’s a few hundred bucks, right? here’ his email address: rdennis@mclaren.com

LOL. Yeah, Ron may not be the person to approach. As for shirts and merchandise? Naw. I’ll let Formula 1.com and FOM make the money they deserve off of F1 related merchandise. They’re grateful enough to let me have Formula 1 in the domain name and with my disclaimer, it’s obvious who owns “F1”. thanks for the heads up on your servers Bob. I just sold my company a few months ago and it had a T1 there and a server under a desk that ran 24/7 for free. I moved this to goDaddy when i sold out. May try… Read more »

i heard they lost that case.

As far as I can tell from legal documents and copyright statements, they do. Haven’t seen anything to the contrary.

fyi, back in July:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/60734

“Formula One bosses failed to secure exclusive rights to the sport’s ‘F1’ abbreviation on Thursday after Britain’s Trademark Registry ruled against them.”

Very nice find, Me. Interesting. FOL, FOM or FOA…I wonder if any one of the three own it? The disclaimer on this web site is a direct copy of FOM’s statement from their web page. I used their verbiage completely to show their ownership. I’ll have to dig a little more.

Todd, I assume that the blog and podcast are on the same hosting plan which you may want to try taking your audio down a notch in quality to see if that alleviates the issue. You have top notch audio quality and we can just turn you up on the dial a bit to make up for the difference. I know that the quality can put a little stress on the hosting plan. Or maybe move to another hosting plan for only the podcast. If you want to do that, listen to “Podcasting Underground” on Itunes, the host Jason Van… Read more »
