Clark (lots), Mansell (lots), Moss, Coulthard, Stewart (all twice), Herbert, Hill, Watson, Hunt, Collins, and does a joint drive count? I believe Stirling once shared the win with Tony Brooks…

So, that would make —- 10, 10.5, or 11.

Blimey, I never knew we were so passably OK at a sport. Happy days.

Let me ask you guys a question that always puzzled me. Why is it that in some sports the English count themselves as English, while in others they put together their achievements with those of their island mates and start calling themselves British? If I were a Scott, I would say to the English: just as you guys don’t share with us your Rugby and Football glories, keep your hands off Clark and Stewart, will you? You can keep Coltard to yourselves, though…(he,he)!

The “English” would love joint teams for say the 2012 Olympics in football but… the Scottish FA won’t support it….

So please don’t blame the English…

If Scotland are playing another nation at Football or another sport the English generally support the Scots… whilst the Scots don’t generally reciprocate…

Hmmm….

But Motor Racing trancends nationality for a lot of people, I think many support the driver or team regardless of nationality…. although you’d expect the casual fan to gravitate to the sport on more nationalistic lines….

Whilst I fully respect Lady Snowcats point, and know it’s one most people will share – I actually disagree. I, being very proud of being English (rather than British, European or Worldwide citizen) would rather see all 2012 GBR teams being devolved into English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish.. much like I would for any sport. Britain isn’t a country, it’s a group of countries. As such it has no place entering British teams into competitions designed for countries. Motorsports though, I totally agree trancends nationality… partly because there’s no truely national teams… I mean – McLaren are a English/British team,… Read more »
