They Signed the agreement!

In a defiant move, the manufacturers have signed a binding contract to move forward with their plans for a break-away series. A series that will be based upon the “fundamental principles of an equitable World Championship”. The contract also prevents anyone from making individual deals.

Williams seems to be stuck in the middle as they are rumored to be working on a Toyota deal for 2007. McLaren, Toyota, Renault, BMW and Honda are on one side of the table while Ferrari, Red Bull and Jordan are on the other side. The three biggest name is in F1 have been Williams, McLaren and Ferrari. Ferrari signed a renewal of the Concorde agreement until 2012 and McLaren have just signed the GPWC agreement. Where will Sir Frank place his future?

If the GPWC takes off, could it bring back the days of the privateer in the FOM/FIA formula one championship? Or will the A1 Grand Prix series be poised to pick up the pieces of a politically shattered racing series a’ la IRL/CHAMP?
