We’ve been scratching our heads as to Scuderia Toro Rosso’s (STR) mission in 2010 and beyond and it seems perhaps team boss Franz Tost is too. Tost explained to the fine men and women at AUTOSPORT that the team has a lot of hard work ahead of them this winter…I’ll say! Finishing ninth in the constructor’s championship is not where they wanted to be and while understandable, is it any wonder?
STR stayed with drivers Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi for the 2010 season and while some believe Alguersuari has potential, many are wondering just what the team is doing for 2011. Tost has already considered Alguersuari a real potential for 2011 but little has been mentioned of Swiss driver Buemi. It seems the team is also looking for more team personnel as well:
“I’m not so happy with the complete season, we will have some tough months in November, December and January because we have a lot of work ahead of us, We simply have to catch up.
“It’s, year-by-year, a developing process – you can never stop. We will work hard. We still have to improve the infrastructure, we have to bring people in. We have a lot of work in front of us, but hopefully all these tasks we have set up, we will find a successful solution for them.”
Perhaps the team is sticking with Alguersuari but the other driver, in my opinion, should be Daniel Ricciardo of Australia. The Red Bull third-driver has been impressive in testing and his gregarious attitude is a refreshing change in F1…at least he’s not dropping F bombs on Twitter…yet.
When someone deciphers STR’s mission in life, please let us know.
