Pole in a race is a starting advantage, big or small depending on track, but it is not the all or nothing. At lest one of the Mercedes cars might have chosen the wrong tyres allocation for china. these present races tyre allocation choses has been made before the races started, and so present cars characteristics was not fully understood.

This morning Its sure looking like China with its two super long straights is no longer Mercedes territory.
