As time ran out on the Free PRactice 3 session, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel threw down a hot lap to leap to the top of the time sheet with a 1:36:490 which is the fastest lap fo the weekend so far. For much of the session, Vettel was languishing in 3rd and his closest rival, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, seemed to be struggling with the car’s handling and only managed a 1:37:180 or 6/10’s off the pace of Vettel.
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton made a late session charge to moe into 2nd with a 1:36:748 while his teammate, Jenson Button was over a second off the pace. Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa were nose-to-tail in the 1:37:262 for Massa and 1:37:298 for Webber. Williams F1’s Pastor Maldonado did well to slot in 3rd with 1:37:001.
