Call me a numpty, I freely admit that I am. But this layout doesn’t look any different to the standard circuit layout. It doesn’t look new at all. Did they paint the kerbs a different colour or something?

Turn 7 was made tighter. This option has always been there, but in the past we have driven the Indy layout as taking the 2nd of the exit options, but this year it is changed to the 1st, more inside exit. The final hairpin has also been extended. They initially put the hairpin early because the cars were almost dangerously fast up the hill into turn 1/2, but come on… what racing driver will say a corner is too fast? This layout will give some exciting onboard footage for sure.

I take it that if a car goes off it’ll take what, a month, for the dust cloud to settle? Looks like road racing in Yemen.

I think it’s the same layout we used for the 24 Hours of Lemons. Clearly IndyCar knows how to take hints from the best in the biz.

You may have used the hairpin but the turn 11 has never been used. Also the 2nd kerb in turn 9 will be moved to the left 10 ft.

You are, of course, correct, we took the early hairpin at 11. I’m also realizing that we took the left fork (against the wall) at turn 7. I should have remembered that better since particularly lemony driver almost put me into it. :-)

Sonoma is a great track in my not-so-expert opinion. I found turns 1 and 3a quite challenging, especially in traffic, but the carousel (6) is soooo much fun!
