Wheatley to leave Red Bull for Audi F1

Red Bull’s Sporting Director, Jonathan Wheatley, will leave the team to become Team Principal of the Audi F1 Team. Red Bull will now lose two key players in their operation as Wheatley and Adrian Newey will depart at the end of the 2024 season.

Times change, people move on and teams wax and wane and that is Formula 1. To those ends, Audi recently announced Andreas Seidl’s departure in favor of Mattia Binotto and now Jonthan Wheatley. It is odd that Carlos Sainz passed on the opportunity with those two new hires in place. Makes you wonder if those rumors about Williams and Newey are true because that would certainly tip the scales for any driver considering a team.

Christian Horner said:

“It has been a long and successful relationship with Jonathan, over 18 years,” said Red Bull boss Christian Horner.

“His contribution to six World Constructors’ Titles and seven World Drivers’ Championship, first as Team Manager and latterly Sporting Director will forever be a marker in our Team history.”

Ok so here’s my out there predictions (what else is the summer break for?)
With all the key personnel leaving RBR,
– Max will also leave at the end of the season and go to Merc.
– Having retained Sergio for 2025, they will move Daniel up and put Liam in the Visa Cashapp, thus solving their driver issue.
– Antonelli will end up at Audi/Stake to get experience.
– Alonso will have had enough and retire at the end of this year and be replaced by Bottas.

That’s it, perfect right?

What’s everyone else’s bet?
